Gene Information

human ... CLIP2(7461)

General description

Cytoplasmic linker protein-115 (CYLN2), also known as CAP-Gly domain containing linker protein 2 (CLIP2), possesses a structural maintenance of chromosomes (Smc) domain. The gene encoding this protein is localized on human chromosome 7q11.23.

Immunogen

CLIP2 (NP_003379, 946 a.a. ~ 1046 a.a) partial recombinant protein with GST tag. MW of the GST tag alone is 26 KDa.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Cytoplasmic linker protein-115 (CYLN2) or CLIP2 takes part in cell division, segregation of chromosomes and in attaching organelles to microtubules. It may be useful as a marker in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). Mutations in the gene encoding CYLN2 have been associated with Williams-Beuren syndrome and the protein has been shown to be expressed in colorectal carcinomas.
