General description
Anti-Parkin Antibody detects endogenous levels of total Parkin protein.
Parkin RBR E3 ubiquitin protein ligase (PARK2) is a putative tumor suppressor gene. It possesses an amino-terminal region containing the Ubl (ubiquitin like) domain and a carboxy-terminal region with four zinc coordinating domains. Parkin is a 465 amino acid protein, which is part of the ubiquitin-proteasome system that targets proteins for degradation. The gene encoding it is localized on human chromosome 6q25.2-q27.
Immunogen
The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human Parkin.
Immunogen Range: 1-50
Immunogen Range: 1-50
Application
Anti-Parkin antibody produced in rabbit has been used in western blotting.
Biochem/physiol Actions
The expression of parkin RBR E3 ubiquitin protein ligase (PARK2) has been found to be altered in various malignancies. Parkin has a neuroprotective E3 ligase activity and polyubiquitylates proteins before degradation. Mutations in the gene encoding it have been linked to autosomal recessive juvenile parkinson (ARJP) disease.
