Gene Information

human ... IGFBP3(3486)

General description

Insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 3 (IGFBP3), a multifunctional protein belongs to the insulin-like growth factor binding proteins (IGFBPs) superfamily. The IGFBP3 gene is located on human chromosome 7p12. Anti-IGFBP-3 antibody detects endogenous levels of total IGFBP-3 protein.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human IGFBP-3.

Immunogen Range: 151-200

Biochem/physiol Actions

Insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 3 (IGFBP3) can stimulate cell growth and apoptosis. It participates in DNA repair. Patients with rheumatoid arthritis show an increased level of IGFBP3 in the serum and synovial fluid. It is involved in the proliferation of stress-induced senescence in human endometrium-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MESCs). IGFBP3 can suppress insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) signaling and modulate lung carcinogenesis and cell proliferation.

Insulin-like growth factor (IGF) signaling has been documented in several human malignancies and is thought to contribute to cellular differentiation and migration, as well as malignant progression. A major binding molecule of IGF, IGF-binding protein 3 (IGFBP-3), regulates multiple IGF

Insulin-like growth factor binding protein 3 (IGFBP3) is a multifunctional protein, able either to stimulate the cell growth or to promote apoptosis. In particular, IGFBP3 plays significant role in propagation of stress-induced senescence in human endometrium-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MESCs)

Maternal uniparental disomy (UPD) of chromosome 7 has recently been reported in about 10% of Silver-Russell (SRS) patients. It can therefore be concluded that at least one gene on chromosome 7 is imprinted and mutations in this gene/these genes might
