Gene Information

human ... ADCYAP1R1(117)

General description

Adenylate cyclase activating polypeptide 1 (pituitary) receptor type I (ADCYAP1R1) or pituitary adenylate cyclase 1 receptor (PAC1R) protein is a member of the class B G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). It is expressed ubiquitously in the central nervous system (CNS) and peripheral tissues. It has an N-terminal extracellular domain (ECD) and a transmembrane domain (TMD). ADCYAP1R1 gene is located on human chromosome 7p14.

Immunogen

Synthetic 17 amino acid peptide from C-terminus of human ADCYAP1R1. Percent identity with other species by BLAST analysis: Human, Gorilla, Gibbon, Monkey, Marmoset, Panda, Dog, Bat, Chicken, Lizard, Xenopus (100%); Stickleback, Pufferfish, Zebrafish (94%); Mouse, Rat, Hamster, Elephant, Bovine, Horse, Pig (88%).

Biochem/physiol Actions

Adenylate cyclase activating polypeptide 1 (pituitary) receptor type I (ADCYAP1R1) or pituitary adenylate cyclase 1 receptor (PAC1R) protein can activate the adenylyl cyclase stimulatory G protein Gs. It regulates circadian rhythm, food intake, and the immune system. PAC1R plays a vital role in glucose metabolism, learning and memory, neuronal ontogenesis, and apoptosis. ADCYAP1R1 is identified as a potential drug target for mental disorders and dry eye syndrome.

The gene encoding the human type I pituitary adenylate cyclase activating polypeptide receptor (ADCYAP1R1) was mapped to chromosome 7 by PCR analysis of genomic DNA from a human/rodent somatic cell hybrid mapping panel. This assignment was confirmed and the gene
