Gene Information

human ... CX3CR1(1524)

General description

C-X3-C motif chemokine receptor 1 (CX3CR1) is a transmembrane G-coupled chemokine receptor of its ligand, fractalkine. This receptor is expressed on epithelial cells, smooth muscle cells, microglia, monocytic cells and natural killer cells. The gene encoding CX3CR1 is localized on human chromosome 3p21.3 and has five exons.

Immunogen

Synthetic 19 amino acid peptide from 3rd extracellular domain of human CX3CR1. Percent identity with other species by BLAST analysis: Human (100%); Gorilla, Gibbon, Monkey (95%); Marmoset, Mouse, Panda (84%).

Biochem/physiol Actions

C-X3-C motif chemokine receptor 1 (CX3CR1) may be linked to the development of macular degeneration. It also acts as a receptor aiding viral entry.
