Gene Information

human ... SOCS3(9021)

General description

Suppressor of cytokine signaling 3 (SOCS3) is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 17q25.3.The encoded protein belongs to the SOCS protein family.

Immunogen

SOCS3 (AAH60858, 1 a.a. ~ 225 a.a) full-length recombinant protein with GST tag. MW of the GST tag alone is 26 KDa.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Suppressor of cytokine signaling 3 (SOCS3) plays a vital role in cytokine signaling. The encoded protein has an ability to bind and inhibit janus kinases (JAKs), turning off signal transducers and activators of transcription 3 (STAT3) signaling in response to interferon (IFN)-6 stimulation. Downregulated expression of the gene enhance the growth and metastasis of colorectal cancer (CRC). Thus, targeting IL-6/STAT3/SOCS3 signaling pathway can be considered as a potent therapeutic strategy for CRC.
