Gene Information
human ... PRG4(10216)
General description
PRG4, Proteoglycan 4, is a human gene and is found in synovial tissue, cartilage, and liver. Small amounts are found in the lung. Isoform 1 is found in the kidney, lung, liver, heart and brain. The other Isoforms, C & D, are widely expressed. PRG4 is a lubricating glycoprotein containing chondroitin sulfate and keratan sulfate glycosaminoglycans. It is responsible for boundary lubrication at the cartilage surface. A disease associated with PRG4 is Jacobs’s syndrome which is an autosomal recessive disorder.
Specificity
Cat. # AB2220 recognizes PRG4.
Immunogen
Epitope: C-Teminus
KLH-conjugated followed by PRG4 corresponding to the C-terminal region
Application
Anti-PRG4 Antibody is an antibody against PRG4 for use in WB & IC.
Immunocytochemistry:
Confocal IF analysis of N1E-115 using anti-PRG4 (1:500) Rabbit pAB (Red). Actin filaments have been labeled with Alexa Fluor 488 -Phalloidin (Green). Nuclear is stained with DAPI (Blue).

Understanding how obesity-induced metabolic stress contributes to synovial joint tissue damage is difficult because of the complex role of metabolism in joint development, maintenance, and repair. Chondrocyte mitochondrial dysfunction is implicated in osteoarthritis (OA) pathology, which motivated us to study

Suppression of the antitumor cytokine interleukin-24 (IL-24) is critical for the survival of myxoid liposarcoma (MLS) cells. It has been previously demonstrated by the authors that an MLS-specific chimeric oncoprotein, translocated in liposarcoma-CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein homologous protein (TLS-CHOP), supresses IL24 mRNA
