Gene Information

human ... PRG4(10216)

General description

PRG4, Proteoglycan 4, is a human gene and is found in synovial tissue, cartilage, and liver. Small amounts are found in the lung. Isoform 1 is found in the kidney, lung, liver, heart and brain. The other Isoforms, C & D, are widely expressed. PRG4 is a lubricating glycoprotein containing chondroitin sulfate and keratan sulfate glycosaminoglycans. It is responsible for boundary lubrication at the cartilage surface. A disease associated with PRG4 is Jacobs’s syndrome which is an autosomal recessive disorder.

Specificity

Cat. # AB2220 recognizes PRG4.

Immunogen

Epitope: C-Teminus
KLH-conjugated followed by PRG4 corresponding to the C-terminal region

Application

Anti-PRG4 Antibody is an antibody against PRG4 for use in WB & IC.
Immunocytochemistry:
Confocal IF analysis of N1E-115 using anti-PRG4 (1:500) Rabbit pAB (Red). Actin filaments have been labeled with Alexa Fluor 488 -Phalloidin (Green). Nuclear is stained with DAPI (Blue).

Suppression of the antitumor cytokine interleukin-24 (IL-24) is critical for the survival of myxoid liposarcoma (MLS) cells.
