General description

Tryptic Soy Agar + Penase (Penicillinase) + LTHThio sedi. ICRplus in 90 mm settle plates (lockable ) is designed for the determination of the total aerobic microbial count in air via active or passive air monitoring as well as fingerprints of personnel in isolators and clean rooms. It is a complex medium for cultivation and isolation of a wide range of bacteria, yeasts and molds. The formulation of the Soybean Casein-Digest medium contains combination of casein and soy peptones by supplying organic nitrogen, particularly amino acids and longer-chained peptides. Sodium chloride maintains the osmotic equilibrium and the medium is supplemented with pyruvate to provide an efficient neutralization of hydrogen peroxide residues. Lecithin, polysorbate 80 (Tween®), histidine and sodium thiosulfate are neutralizers to inactivate disinfectants containing active agents such as Alcohol (70% ethanol or isopropyl alcohol), Aldehyde, Chlorides, Dichloroisocyanurate, Glucoprotamine, Peracetic acid, Phenols, quaternary ammonium compounds and Biguanides. The medium is also supplemented with penicillinase (≥ 1000 IU/liter) to neutralize residuals of penicillins, such as benzylpenicillin, ampicillin, amoxycillin, carbenicillin and methicillin. In addition, the plate model (plus or “+”) is supplied with a lockable lid for safe transport after sampling without the risk of losing the lid. For aerobic incubation the plates should be locked in the “CLOSED”-position and for anaerobic or microaerophilic incubation in the “VENT” position.

Application

Tryptic Soy Agar (TSA, Soybean Casein Digest Agar) is a complex medium for cultivation and isolation of a wide range of bacteria, yeasts and molds. The media finds its application in environmental monitoring by determining the total aerobic microbial count in air through active or passive air monitoring as well as fingerprints of personnel in isolators and clean rooms.
