General description

Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine primarily produced by activated macrophages and T cells, playing a central role in the immune response. It is crucial for the regulation of inflammation, apoptosis, and the activation of other immune cells, facilitating the body′s defense against infections and tumors. However, excessive or dysregulated TNF-α production is associated with various inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and Crohn′s disease, making it a significant target for therapeutic interventions.

Application

Inflammatory Disease / Immune Response / Autoimmune Disease

Biochem/physiol Actions

Although TNFα was detectable in non-human primate, rat, feline, canine and equine samples, the assay has not been verified for these species.

Features and Benefits

  • Ultra-Sensitive Detection: Utilizing SMC®technology, this assay detects TNFα at femtogram-level concentrations, enabling precise quantification in human plasma and serum—even in low-expression conditions.
  • Familiar Workflow, Elevated Performance: Follows a standard sandwich immunoassay protocol with a unique elution step and digital readout, delivering high signal-to-noise ratios and low background interference.
  • Expert Scientific Support: Backed by Field Application Scientists and technical support teams experienced in academic, pharma, CRO, and regulated lab environments.
  • Automation-Ready Workflow: Compatible with liquid handling systems for hands-free operation, reducing variability and increasing throughput.
