General description

Kit Contents:
  • One cap/PTFE sleeve set, 35 mL
  • One Q-Tube adapter-3510 (pressure will be safely released at or under 120 psi and the tube will be resealed)
  • One catch bottle (20 mL)
  • One needle adapter
  • One 1 inch needle
  • One 35 mL reusable glass pressure tube
  • One PP trap with FEP tubing
  • One retaining screw
  • Ten rubber septa, 35 mL
  • One stir bar
Q-Tube pressure reactors are affordable alternatives to a microwave synthesizer and feature a safe pressure-release system that prevents accidental explosions due to over -pressurization. The starter kits contain all items needed for immediate use.

Optional higher pressure-release threshold adapters are available separately for 12 mL and 35 mL Q-Tubes.

Benefits:
  • Better yield than microwave and conventional open flask
  • Cleaner product than microwave and conventional open flask (higher yield and lighter color)
  • Reduced reaction time (from hours to minutes)
  • Higher reproducibility than microwave
  • Scalable (up to 20 grams)
  • Safer (automatic pressure release and reseal) than conventional pressure (sealed) tube
  • Affordable
  • Maintenance-free

Caution

12 mL pressure tubes and septa are disposable and should not be reused! Hand wash 35 mL pressure tube only! Clean and inspect the one inch pressure-release needle after each use to ensure that it is not plugged.

  5. What are the benefits of High pressure adapters for Q-Tube?

The Q-TubeTM reactors are affordable alternatives to a microwave synthesizer. Unlike the microwave system, which can experience hot-spots that can lead to charring of product, the Q-TubeTM system provides more uniform heat distribution.

  6. Can High pressure adapters for Q-Tube be heated with an oil bath?

Yes. However, the Q-BlockTM heating block offers the advantage of being equipped with a safety shield, lattice clamps and hose barb for nitrogen stream to cool down the block.

  7. What is the maximum liquid fill level for the High pressure adapter for Q-Tube glass tube?

We would recommend keeping the level of the liquid just below half full. The 35mL system has a maximum fill line printed on the tube.
