General description

Nickel carbonate, basic hydrate is a green powder that is water insoluble. It is the most important carbonate for industrial applications such as nickel electroplating, as well as an intermediate in the hydrometallurgical purification of nickel from its ores.

Application

Nickel carbonate, basic hydrate can be used as a precursor:
  • To synthesize spinel nickel cobaltite (NiCo2O4) nanoparticles for supercapacitor application.
  • To prepare nanocrystalline nickel disulfide via the solid-state reaction.
It can also be used as a catalyst to produce H2O2 on carbon cathode.
