Environmental
S-Metolachlor is a selective herbicide, absorbed primarily by hypocotyls and shoots. It is used as pre-, early post-emergence and pre-plant herbicide, incorporated to control annual grass and some broad-leaved weeds in maize, sorghum, cotton, surgar beets. Under Reg. (EC) No 1107/2009 S-Metolachlor is approved for use as a plant protection product in the European Union (EU). Maximum residue levels (MRLs) have been set according Reg. (EU) No 1317/2013 for metolachlor and S-metolachlor (metolachlor including other mixtures of constituent isomers including S-metolachlor) for various products of plant and animal origin from 0.01 - 0.05 mg/kg. Metolachlor (technical product being an isomeric mixture of R- and S-enantiomers) is not approved for use as a plant protection product in the European Union (EU) or UK. The certified reference material (CRM) is intended to be used as a calibrant for chromatography and other analytical techniques.
