General description

Capillary GC column is also known as open tubular column. The carrier gas flows through the central aperture and is unrestricted throughout the length of the column.
Application: The incorporation of acid functional groups into the phase lends an acidic character to this column, useful for analyses of volatile acidic compounds. It offers great performance for analyses of glycols. It is the recommended column for ethylene glycol analysis.
USP Code: This column meets USP G25 and G35 requirements.
Phase:
  • Bonded
  • Acid-modified poly(ethylene glycol)
Temp. Limits:
  • 60 °C to 200 °C (isothermal) or 220 °C (programmed)

Application

SPB®-1000 Capillary GC Column equipped with a flame ionization detector, was used for separation of flavor compounds, in an experiment conducted to study the effect of probiotic bacteria on fermented milk products, resulting in the formation of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), microbial growth, and organoleptic attributes like acidity, texture, and flavour.

  1. Which document(s) contains shelf-life or expiration date information for a given product?

If available for a given product, the recommended re-test date or the expiration date can be found on the Certificate of Analysis.

  2. How do I get lot-specific information or a Certificate of Analysis?

The lot specific COA document can be found by entering the lot number above under the "Documents" section.

  3. What is the diameter of the column cage for Product number 24313, SPB-1000 Capillary GC Column?

For the 0.10-0.25mm ID columns, the cage is 6 in.  The cage is 8 in. for all other columns.

  4. Can I get an SPB-1000 capillary column with different dimensions than what you have as stock items?

Yes, we should be able to manufacture this column in most standard capillary column dimensions as custom items.

  5. What is the phase of Product number 24313, SPB-1000 Capillary GC Column?

This is an improved version of the NUKOL phase and is recommended for Glycol analysis.  This phase is a polyethylene glycol phase with the incorporation of acidic functional groups.  This makes the phase useful for volatile acidic compounds.
