General description

Styrene is the simplest alkenylbenzene which is an unsaturated aromatic monomer. It is widely used as column packing material in liquid chromatography for separation of both organic and inorganic ions. Styrene-divinylbenzene Copolymer is used in inorganic trace analysis for solid phase extraction preconcentration.

Application

Styrene-divinylbenzene Copolymer is used as packing material (solid phase) to determine the contamination of groundwater by pesticides using solid phase extraction based method.

Malignant hyperthermia (MH) is a pharmacogenetic disorder of skeletal muscle metabolism which is characterized by generalized muscle rigidity, increased body temperature, rhabdomyolysis, and severe metabolic acidosis. The underlying mechanism of MH involves excessive Ca(2+) release in myotubes via the ryanodine
