General description
This vertical unit can run two gels, for the separation of nucleic acids or proteins. It utilizes the large buffer volume in the bottom tank to act as a coolant. The running buffer can be pre-chilled prior to electrophoresis or additional cooling can be achieved by utilizing a bottom cooling block, which has hose connectors, allowing the connection of the unit to a circulating water bath or tap.
Cooled gels can be run faster than conventional gels, minimizing heat induced lane distortions, and are ideal for native protein separations as well as SDS-Protein and DNA applications requiring temperature control. Gels can be cast directly on the inner gel running module using the casting base. The gel running frame connects the gels directly to the top buffer tank.
A guaranteed leak-proof seal is obtained using simple clamping bars and screws.
Plates: 205 mm × 200 mm, usable gel size 165 mm × 175 mm.
