General description

Tau is a microtubule-associated phosphoprotein that is present in the axons of nerve cells. It stabilizes microtubules and mediates the polymerization of tubulin. Phosphorylation of Tau regulates its cellular functions. Hyperphosphorylation of Tau has been linked to neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer′s disease . Anti-phospho-Tau (pSer404) antibody specifically reacts with Tau (pSer404) (45-68 kDa) in humans, mice and rats.

Immunogen

chemically synthesized phosphopeptide derived from the region of human tau that contains serine404.

Application

Anti-phospho-Tau (pSer404) antibody may be used in western blot (1:1000), immunoblot (1:1000) and immunohistochemistry.

Physical form

Solution in Dulbecco′s phosphate buffered saline (without Mg2+ and Ca2+), pH 7.3, with 50% glycerol, 1.0 mg/ml BSA (IgG and protease free) and 0.05% sodium azide.

Tau, one of the best characterized microtubule-associated proteins (MAPs), is a phosphoprotein, the biological activity of which is regulated by its degree of phosphorylation. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the regulation, phosphorylation and the biological activity

In Alzheimer disease (AD), astrocytes undergo complex changes and become reactive. The consequences of this reaction are still unclear. To evaluate the net impact of reactive astrocytes in AD, we developed viral vectors targeting astrocytes that either activate or inhibit

Tau is a microtubule-associated protein that is functionally modulated by phosphorylation and hyperphosphorylated in several neurodegenerative diseases. Because phosphorylation regulates both normal and pathological tau functioning, it is of great interest to identify the signalling pathways and enzymes capable of
