Gene Information
Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Typhimurium str. LT2 ... fliC (STM1959)
General description
FliC (flagellin) is the subunit protein which polymerizes to form the filaments of bacterial flagella. The protein has four-domains (D0, D1, D2, D3).
The encoded flagellin filament contains 55 kDa monomers.
Biochem/physiol Actions
FliC (flagellin) can activate the innate immune system by TLR5 (toll like receptor 5) and is an important proinflammatory molecule. FliC also induces the production of antibodies and is identified as an antigen by CD4+ T cells.
It also stimulates the production of proinflammatory mediators : nitric oxide, interleukin 1 (IL-1), IL-6, IL-8, and tumor necrosis factor α.
Physical form
Lyophilized from PBS.
Preparation Note
Reconstitute with 100 μL deionized water.

Recent meta-analyses suggest that the consumption of fermented dairy products reduces type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk, although the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. We evaluated whether dairy protein products modulated gut microbiota and cardiometabolic features in mouse models
