General description

Monoclonal Anti-Sumo-1 (rat IgG2a isotype) is derived from the hybridoma 4D12 produced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells (SP2/0) and splenocytes from rat immunized with a fusion protein of human SUMO1.
SUMO1 (small ubiquitin-related modifier), also called as Pic1 (inner centromere protein-related protein), Ubl1 (ubiquitin-like protein), hSmt3 (human homolog 3), or sentrin, is mainly expressed in the nucleus. The gene encoding SUMO1 is mapped to human chromosome 2q33. SUMO1 belongs to ubiquitin-like protein family and it consists of 101 amino acids.

Application

Monoclonal Anti-Sumo-1 has been used in immunocytochemistry.
Monoclonal Anti-Sumo-1 has been used in western blotting.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Sumo-1 interacts with dsDNA and competes with other protein-DNA interactions.
Suppressing SUMO1 (small ubiquitin-related modifier) inhibits multiplication and induces apoptosis of gastric cancer SGC-7901 cells. It is essential for HCV (hepatitis C virus) replication. Deletion of SUMO1 blocks the aggregation of lipid droplets. It is also implicated in mitochondrial fission.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
