Gene Information
human ... GFAP(2670)
General description
This gene encodes one of the major intermediate filament proteins of mature astrocytes. It is used as a marker to distinguish astrocytes from other glial cells during development. Mutations in this gene cause Alexander disease, a rare disorder of astrocytes in the central nervous system. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms. (provided by RefSeq)
Immunogen
GFAP (NP_002046.1, 1 a.a. ~ 432 a.a) full-length human protein.

Forkhead box protein J1 (FOXJ1), a member of the forkhead family transcription factors, is a transcriptional regulator of motile ciliogenesis. The nasal respiratory epithelium, but not olfactory epithelium, is lined with FOXJ1-expressing multiciliated epithelial cells with motile cilia. In a

Neural stem cells (NSCs) are multi-potent stem cells able to self-renew and generate immature and differentiated cell populations by asymmetric division. The NSCs are of considerable interest for cell replacement in neuro-degenerative diseases. NSCs are usually identified and expanded by

Social deficit is a core clinical feature of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) but the underlying neural mechanisms remain largely unclear. We demonstrate that structural and functional impairments occur in glutamatergic synapses in the pyramidal neurons of the anterior cingulate cortex

Pulpitis often causes referred pain in opposing teeth. However, the precise mechanism underlying ectopic pain associated with tooth-pulp inflammation remains unclear. We performed the present study to test the hypothesis that functional interactions between satellite glial cells (SGCs) and trigeminal

As a therapeutic target for neuropathic pain, the anti-nociceptive effects of α 2-adrenoceptors (α2AR) have attracted attention. Dexmedetomidine (DEX), a potent and highly selective α2AR agonist, has exhibited significant analgesic effects in neuropathic pain, but the underlying mechanism has remained
