Gene Information

human ... SEL1L(6400)

General description

SEL1L (Sel-1-like) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein, that is located in ER (endoplasmic reticulum). It is considered as a putative tumor suppressor gene. It is located on chromosome 14q.
SEL1L is highly expressed in the pancreas.

Application

Anti-SEL1L (N-terminal) antibody produced in rabbit has been used in
  • immunoblotting
  • immunoprecipitation
  • immunofluorescence

Biochem/physiol Actions

SEL1L (Sel-1-like) participates in the degradation pathway linked with endoplasmic reticulum (ER), malignant transformation and stem cells. It helps in the self regeneration of the neural stem cell. It controls cell fate developmental decision and homeostasis. It plays an important role in retaining homeostasis of endoplasmic reticulum throughout embryonic growth of vertebrate.
SEL1L is involved in cell growth and cancer progression.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
