General description

Sigma′s GenElute Single Cell RNA Purification Kit provides a rapid and sensitive method for the isolation and purification of total RNA from small input amounts of cultured animal cells, sorted cells, and microdissected samples including laser-capture microdissection (LCM). The kit can recover RNA from as little as a single cell to 2 x 10^5 cells. The kit purifies all sizes of RNA, from large mRNA and ribosomal RNA down to microRNA (miRNA) and small interfering RNA (siRNA). The RNA is preferentially purified from other cellular components such as proteins without the use of phenol or chloroform. The purified RNA is of the highest integrity, and can be used in a number of downstream applications including real time PCR, reverse transcription PCR, Northern blotting, RNase protection and primer extension, and expression array assays.

  • Fast and easy processing using rapid micro spin-column format
  • Small elution volume of 8 μL
  • Isolate total RNA, from large rRNA down to microRNA (miRNA) without compromising total yield
  • No phenol or chloroform extractions
  • Isolate high quality total RNA from a variety of sources
  • RNA can be isolated and detected from as little as a single animal cell

Application

  • Quantitative, real-time RT-PCR for both large mRNA and small RNA including miRNA
  • RT-PCR for both large mRNA and small RNA including miRNA
  • Expression profiling
  • Next Generation Sequencing for RNA and miRNA
  • microRNA cloning and amplification
  • Northern blotting
  • RNase protection
  • Primer extension
  • miRNA array
  • RNA-Seq
  • Nanostring
  • Fluidigm
  • Droplet/Digital PCR

Features and Benefits

  • Ideal for small inputs - Total RNA can be isolated from small input amounts of cultured animal cells, sorted cells, and microdissected samples including laser-capture microdissection (LCM). RNA has been isolated from as little as a single cell.
  • Smal elution volume - Elute total RNA in as little as 8 μL of Elution Buffer
  • No phenol:chloroform extractions - Total RNA is isolated without the use of harmful chemicals such as phenol or chloroform
  • Isolate a diversity of RNA species - All RNA species can be isolated, from large mRNA and ribosomal RNA down to microRNA (miRNA) and small interfering RNA (siRNA) without compromising yield
  • Fast and easy processing - Rapid spin-column format allows for the processing of 10 samples in 20 minutes
