General description

The GLP-1 Enzyme Immunoassay (EIA) Kit is an in vitro quantitative assay for detecting GLP-1 peptide based on the principle of Competitive Enzyme Immunoassay.

Immunogen

Glucagon-like Peptide 1 (GLP-1), synthetic peptide

Application

For research use only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Glucagon-Like Peptide I (GLP1) controls the metabolism of glucose by inducing the secretion of insulin and suppressing that of glucagon. Studies in Indonesian population show that reduced levels of this protein are linked with increased susceptibility to type 2 diabetes mellitus. Plasma levels of this hormone also show significant association with systolic and diastolic blood pressure levels.

Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) potentiates glucose-stimulated insulin secretion (GSIS). While dozens of compounds stimulate GLP-1 secretion, few inhibit. Reduced GLP-1 secretion and impaired GSIS occur in chronic inflammation. Lysophosphatidic acids (LPAs) are bioactive phospholipids elevated in inflammation. The aim of this

Mercaptoacetate (MA) is an orexigenic agent reported to block fatty acid (FA) oxidation. Recently, however, we reported evidence from isolated nodose ganglion neurons that MA antagonizes the G protein-coupled long- and medium-chain FA receptor GPR40. GPR40 mediates FA-induced secretion of
