Gene Information
human ... EGFR(1965)
General description
Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is a member of the epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) family. It is a single-chain transmembrane glycoprotein. EGFR comprises an extracellular ligand-binding ectodomain, a short juxtamembrane section, a transmembrane domain, a tyrosine kinase domain, tyrosine-containing C-terminal tail. Overexpression of EGFR is observed in breast cancer cells.
Immunogen
Recombinant Human EGFR
Application
Human EGFR / ErbB1 ELISA Kit has been used in the estimation of epidermal growth factor receptors (EGFR) from human epithelial cells. It has also been used in the detection of EGFR from patient plasma/serum and exosomes isolated from human prostate cancer cells LNCaP xenografts.

Exosomes proteins and microRNAs have gained much attention as diagnostic tools and biomarker potential in various malignancies including prostate cancer (PCa). However, the role of exosomes and membrane-associated receptors, particularly epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) as mediators of cell proliferation

Both ErbB1 and ErbB2 are overexpressed or amplified in breast tumours. To examine the effects of activating ErbB receptors in a context that mimics polarized epithelial cells in vivo, we activated ErbB1 and ErbB2 homodimers in preformed, growth-arrested mammary acini

The epidermal growth factor family of receptor tyrosine kinases (ErbBs) plays essential roles in regulating cell proliferation, survival, differentiation and migration. The ErbB receptors carry out both redundant and restricted functions in mammalian development and in the maintenance of tissues
