General description

Histone binding protein (RbAp48, also known as also known as RBBP4 or NURF55) contains 425 amino acids, tryptophan-aspartic acid (WD)-domain containing protein isolated as a retinoblastoma binding protein (RB1).

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 1-14 of human RbAp48, conjugated to KLH via a C-terminal added cysteine residue. The immunizing peptide is conserved in human, mouse, and rat.

Application

Anti-RbAp48 antibody produced in rabbit has been used in immunoprecipitation and western blot analysis. It may also be used in immunofluorescence.

Biochem/physiol Actions

RbAp48 is found in association with chromatin remodeling complexes Sin3A/histone deacetylase (HDAC) and NURD (nucleosomal remodeling and deacetylation complex).

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.

Histone H3K4 methylation has been linked to transcriptional activation. KDM5A (also known as RBP2 or JARID1A), a member of the KDM5 protein family, is an H3K4 demethylase, previously implicated in the regulation of transcription and differentiation. Here, we show that
