General description

Polyoxyethylene (10) tridecyl ether (POE TDA) is a nonionic surfactant.

Application

Polyoxyethylene (10) tridecyl ether has been used in a study to assess the role of polyribosomes and the cytoskeleton in protein accumulation of maize endosperm. It has also been used in a study to investigate the application of commercial polyoxyethylene detergents used with the membrane protein phosphatidylinositol kinase.

Neutral alpha-D-glucosidase (alpha-D-glucoside glucohydrolase, EC 3.2.1.20) from horse kidney brush-border membranes was solubilized using Emulphogene BC 720 and purified by an affinity chromatography technique. The enzyme preparation (390-fold purified), which was free of other known microvillus hydrolases, exhibited one precipitate
