General description
Protein phosphatase 2 catalytic subunit a (PPP2CA/PP2Ac) gene is mapped to human chromosome 5q31.1. The PPP2CA gene encodes the catalytic subunit of PP2A (protein phosphatase 2), a serine/threonine phosphatase.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Divalent cation-independent catalytic subunit of protein phosphatase 2A. Useful for functional studies of the A and B subunit of the phosphatase.
Protein phosphatase 2 catalytic subunit α (PPP2CA/PP2Ac) is a tumor suppressor and negatively regulates cell cycle. It mainly regulates PI3K (phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase)/AKT (RAC-α serine/threonine-protein kinase) pathway, MEK1 (MAPK/ERK kinase 1), ERK (extracellular signal-regulated kinase) family kinases and c-myc transcription factors.
Physical form
1 μg per vial in 50 μl of 50 mM Tris-HCl, pH 7.0, containing 14 mM β-Mercaptoethanol, 1mM benzamidine, 0.1 mM PMSF, 1mM EDTA, and 50% glycerol.
