General description
Placental alkaline phosphatase is found expressed in liver and intestines.
Application
Human placental alkaline phosphatase has been studied extensively due to its ectopic exptression in tumors. It has also been used in a study to investigate whether alkaline phosphatase of human tumor tissue corresponds to one or more phases of trophoblastic development.
Unit Definition
One unit will hydrolyze 1.0 μmole of 4-nitrophenyl phosphate per minute at pH 10.4 at 37 ° C.

Alkaline phosphatase electrophoretic patterns characteristic of three phases in early human trophoblast development are described in this preliminary communication. Phase 1 (6 to 10 weeks) consists entirely of two heat-sensitive, L-homoarginine-inhibited bands, the slower one of which possesses antigenic determinants

Three distinct forms of human alkaline phosphatase, presumably isozymes, are known, each apparently associated with a specific tissue. These are placental, intestinal, and liver (kidney and bone). We have used a specific immunoassay and HPLC to show that placental alkaline

The phosphate ester, BMS-292655, was developed as a water-soluble prodrug of the antifungal agent, ravuconazole (BMS-207147). BMS-292655 was comparatively stable in rat, beagle dog, cynomolgus monkey and human plasma, but was hydrolysed upon incubation with liver S9 preparations from all

We have identified a 323-base pair fragment of the 5'-flanking sequence of the K18 gene, which confers position-independent and copy number-dependent expression on two heterologous transgenes. This fragment is composed primarily of an Alu repetitive element. Its activity in mice
