Immunogen

OX1R / Orexin Receptor 1 antibody was raised against synthetic 16 amino acid peptide from C-terminus of human HCRTR1 / Orexin Receptor 1

Biochem/physiol Actions

Orexin is a neuropeptide that modulates the energy and metabolism balance. The effects of orexin are mediated by one of the two G protein-coupled receptors, orexin receptor 1 or 2. OXRs are expressed in oxinergic projection areas of the brain and regulate food intake by reducing systemic and brain signals that drive over-eating.

Physical form

Solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.1% sodium azide.

The orexin system regulates feeding, nutrient metabolism and energy homeostasis. Acute pharmacological blockade of orexin receptor 1 (OXR-1) in rodents induces satiety and reduces normal and palatable food intake. Genetic OXR-1 deletion in mice improves hyperglycemia under high-fat (HF) diet

Airway vagal nerves play a predominant role in the neural control of the airway, and augmented airway vagal activity is known to play important roles in the pathogenesis of some chronic inflammatory airway diseases. Several lines of evidence indicate that

We describe a novel, potent and selective orexin-2 (OX2)/hypocretin-2 receptor antagonist with in vivo activity in an animal model predictive of antidepressant-like efficacy. N-biphenyl-2-yl-4-fluoro-N-(1H-imidazol-2-ylmethyl) benzenesulfonamide HCl (LSN2424100) binds with high affinity to recombinant human OX2 receptors (Ki = 4.5 nM)

1. Orexins are neuropeptides synthesized in the hypothalamus that regulate many physiological functions, including energy homeostasis, stress responses, sleep/wake states etc. It is now emerging that orexins may also regulate breathing, but little is known as to how they do
