General description
Matrix Metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1) is a secreted enzyme capable of breaking down interstitial collagen types I, II, and III in the extracellular matrix. Matrix metalloproteinases have important functions in morphogenesis, angiogenesis, apoptosis, tissue remodeling and repair, and tumor metastasis.

Suitable for the screening of inhibitors of MMP-1.
Biochem/physiol Actions
The MMP-1 Inhibitor Screening Kit is a rapid, sensitive and high throughput assay to screen and characterize potential inhibitors of MMP-1. MMP-1 activity is measured by hydrolyzing a FRET-tagged substrate to yield a fluorescent product (λex = 490/λem = 520 nm) proportional to the enzymatic activity present.
