General description

Map kinase phosphatase-1 (MKP-1) is a protein that belongs to protein-tyrosine phosphatase family. It has a pivotal role in inhibiting p38 and subsequent destabilisation of pro-inflammatory mRNAs by GCs. It also has a crucial role in regulating MAP kinase and can inhibit fibroblast proliferation due to overexpression. Anti-MAP kinase phosphatase-1 (MKP-1) antibody can be used to study the differential tissue expression, specific activation requirements and for intracellular localization of MAP kinase phosphatases in normal and neoplastic cells and tissues. Rabbit anti-MAP kinase phosphatase-1 (MKP-1) antibody reacts specifically with MAP kinase phosphatase-1 (39 kD protein). The product has also shown reactivity for human.

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 87-99 of mouse MAP kinase phosphatase-1, coupled to KLH.

Application

Anti-MAP kinase phosphatase-1 (MKP-1) antibody can be used in western blotting (diluted-1:5,000) using TPA-induced A431 whole cell extract. It can also be used in microarray.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.

Synthetic glucocorticoids (GCs) potently inhibit the expression of pro-inflammatory genes and are widely used in the treatment of inflammatory diseases. However, some patients are resistant to the therapeutic effects of GCs, and many suffer deleterious side effects from these drugs.
