Gene Information

human ... NR1H2(7376)

General description

Liver X receptor β (LXRβ) is ubiquitously expressed in the body. The LXRβ gene is mapped to human chromosome 19q13.33. It belongs to the ligand-activated transcription factor family.

Specificity

Anti-LXRβ(C-terminal) specifically recognizes human LXRβ.

Application

Anti-LXRβ (C-terminal) antibody produced in rabbit may be used in immunoblotting.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Liver X receptor β (LXRβ) is involved in cholesterol metabolism and lipoprotein remodeling. It is essential for the immune system and the central nervous system (CNS). Genetic knockout of either LXRα or LXRβ in transgenic mice results in increased amyloid plaque load. Deletion of LXRβ is implicated in anxiety, neurodegeneration in substantia nigra. It also results in impaired cerebral cortex lamination and behavior response

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.

Storage and Stability

For continuous use, store at 2–8 °C for up to one month. For extended storage, freeze in working aliquots. Repeated freezing and thawing, or storage in “frost-free” freezers, is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use. Working dilutions should be discarded if not used within 12 hours.
