General description

The antibody will neutralize the biological activity of recombinant human IL-18 receptor.

Immunogen

recombinant human IL-18 receptor extracellular domain, expressed in NS0 cells.

Biochem/physiol Actions

IL-18 belongs to the IL-1 cytokine superfamily and is a regulator of innate and acquired immune responses. The immune responses of IL-18 are mediated by its interaction and subsequent signaling by IL-18 receptor complex. The IL-18R complex is made up of α chain that binds to extracellular IL-18 and a β chain that is involved in signal transduction. The IL-18/IL-18R signaling enhances T and NK cell maturation, cytotoxicity and secretion of cytokines.

Physical form

Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in phosphate buffered saline with 5% trehalose.

Preparation Note

Purified using protein G.

European cytokine network, 17(4), 224-252 (2007-03-14)
IL-18 is among the cytokines responsible for immune-mediated pathologies and is probably one of the factors that contribute to the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases. Identification of the causes of uncontrolled IL-18 production and activity in autoimmunity would allow for novel

Interleukin-18 (IL-18), a recently described member of the IL-1 cytokine superfamily, is now recognized as an important regulator of innate and acquired immune responses. IL-18 is expressed at sites of chronic inflammation, in autoimmune diseases, in a variety of cancers
