Biochem/physiol Actions

IRAK4 (interleukin-1 receptor-associated kinase 4) protein contains a death domain and a kinase-like domain. IRAKs are mainly involved in toll-like receptors (TLRs) and interleukin-1 receptors (IL-1Rs) signaling. IRAK4 can activate NF-κB (nuclear factor κ B) and MAPK (mitogen activated protein kinase) pathways. It plays a crucial role in adaptive immunity and inflammatory responses.[1][2][3] IRAK4 mRNA levels are higher in humans suffering from Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada (VKH) disease.[1] Mutations in IRAK4 are associated with recurrent pyogenic bacterial infections in children.[4]

Physical form

Supplied in 50 mM Tris-HCl, pH 7.5, with 150 mM NaCl, 0.2 5mM DTT, 0.1 mM EGTA, 0.1 mM EDTA, 0.1 mM PMSF, and 25% glycerol.

Trans-autophosphorylation is among the most prevalent means of protein kinase activation, yet its molecular basis is poorly defined.
