Gene Information

General description

The gene APOBEC3A (apolipoprotein B mRNA editing enzyme catalytic subunit 3A) is mapped to human chromosome 22q13.1. The protein has a catalytically active deaminase domain. It belongs to the APOBEC3 genes family.

Immunogen

apolipoprotein B mRNA editing enzyme, catalytic polypeptide-like 3A recombinant protein epitope signature tag (PrEST)

Application

All Prestige Antibodies®Powered by Atlas Antibodies is developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project . Each antibody is tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues. These images can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. We also provide Prestige Antibodies® protocols and other useful information.
Anti-APOBEC3A antibody produced in rabbit has been used in immunohistochemistry.
Anti-APOBEC3A antibody produced in rabbit has also been used in immunofluorescence staining.

Biochem/physiol Actions

APOBEC3A (apolipoprotein B mRNA editing enzyme catalytic subunit 3A) is a cytidine deaminase. APOBEC3 proteins are mainly involved in intracellular antiviral defense responses, particularly against retroviruses. They are also involved in carcinogenesis by dC (deoxycytidine) deamination, thereby causing DNA mutations. APOBEC3A also exhibits mRNA-editing function. It is involved with guanine-to-alanine editing in transcripts of WT1 (wilms tumor 1). Deletion in APOBEC3A gene is associated with breast cancer predisposition. This happens due to increased stability of APOBEC3A mRNA.

Features and Benefits

Prestige Antibodies® are highly characterized and extensively validated antibodies with the added benefit of all available characterization data for each target being accessible via the Human Protein Atlas portal linked just below the product name at the top of this page. The uniqueness and low cross-reactivity of the Prestige Antibodies® to other proteins are due to a thorough selection of antigen regions, affinity purification, and stringent selection. Prestige antigen controls are available for every corresponding Prestige Antibody and can be found in the linkage section.

Every Prestige Antibody is tested in the following ways:
  • IHC tissue array of 44 normal human tissues and 20 of the most common cancer type tissues.
  • Protein array of 364 human recombinant protein fragments.
