used to treat HT22 hippocampal cells to study its effects on cell viability and to examine the expression of molecules related to apoptotic cell death
as a component of fresh media to culture neurons and to assess glutamate uptake

Monosodium glutamate (MSG) is a food additive and an environmental agent, that can affect inflammation.

Agonist at kainate, NMDA, and quisqualate receptors; an excitatory amino acid neurotransmitter.
