General description

C-reactive protein (CRP) is an acute-phase pentraxin protein. It is synthesized by the liver. This gene is mapped to human chromosome 1q23. It has two exons and an intron. It is located within the complement membrane complex in early atherosclerotic tissue.

Application

Anti-C-Reactive Protein antibody produced in rabbit has been used in electro immunoassay, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).
Applications in which this antibody has been used successfully, and the associated peer-reviewed papers, are given below.

Biochem/physiol Actions

C-reactive protein (CRP) is considered as a major biomarker of sterile inflammation. It is mainly used to observe the treatment response which can predict long-term consequence in inflammatory diseases. CRP facilitates opsonization of low-density lipoprotein by macrophages.

Physical form

Lyophilized from 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.2

Reconstitution

Reconstitute with 2 ml deionized water.
