General description

Chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 17 (CCL17) belonging to the CC chemokine family. It is also known as thymus and activation regulated chemokine (TARC), ABCD-2, SCYA17, A-152E5.3. It is expressed constitutively in thymus and transiently in stimulated peripheral blood mononuclear cells.

Immunogen

purified, E. coli-derived, recombinant human CCL-17.

Application

Anti-CCL17/TARC antibody produced in goat is suitable for the following applications:
  • Immunohistochemistry using formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded sections at a concentration of 5-15μg/mL.
  • Neutralization
  • Western blotting at a concentration of 0.1-0.2μg/mL

Biochem/physiol Actions

Thymus and activation regulated chemokine (TARC) may play an important role in T cell development as well as in trafficking and activation of mature T cells. It functions as a selective chemo-attractant for T cells that express a class of receptors binding TARC with high affinity and specificity. TARC acts as a functional ligand for CCR4, and CCR4 that are specific receptor for TARC selectively expressed on T cells. In Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) disease it is highly expressed and is a possible biomarker in HL patients. TARC expression is resistant to corticosteroid and is suppressed by PI3K enzyme inhibitors.

Physical form

Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in phosphate buffered saline containing carbohydrates.
