Chloroform:Isoamyl Alcohol 24:1 is an organic reagent used for DNA extraction and precipitation.[1]

Application

Chloroform:Isoamyl alcohol 24:1 has been used:

  • to extract bacterial genomic DNA, DNA from Daphnia spp, and salmon sperms.[2][3][4]
  • for a single DNA precipitation step for high-quality DNA extraction.[5]
  • for protein extraction and RNAse treatment.[5]
  • in phenolic oxidation to separate phenolics from the aqueous portion.[5]
  • for RNA isolation from brown adipose tissue (BAT), inguinal white adipose tissue (iWAT), and epididymal adipose tissue (eWAT).[6]
  • in modified cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) method to extract total RNA from Impatiens balsamina.[7]
