Gene Information

human ... MBOAT1(154141)

General description

MBOAT1 codes for membrane bound O-acyltransferase domain containing 1 protein. It functions as an enzyme that facilitates the transfer of oleoyl-CoA to hydroxyl groups of membrane proteins. A de novo translocation in MBOAT1 has been linked to brachydactyly-syndactyly syndrome.
Rabbit Anti-MBOAT1 antibody recognizes human, mouse, and rat MBOAT1.

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide directed towards the N terminal region of human MBOAT1

Application

Rabbit Anti-MBOAT1 antibody is suitable for western blot applications at a concentration of 1μg/ml.

Biochem/physiol Actions

MBOAT1 shares structural similarity with a superfamily of membrane-bound O-acetyltransferases that transfer organic compounds, usually fatty acids (e.g., cholesterol, diacylglycerol, palmitoyl), onto hydroxyl groups of membrane-embedded targets.MBOAT1 shares structural similarity with a superfamily of membrane-bound O-acetyltransferases that transfer organic compounds, usually fatty acids (e.g., cholesterol, diacylglycerol, palmitoyl), onto hydroxyl groups of membrane-embedded targets (Dauwerse et al., 2007 [PubMed 17440500]).[supplied by OMIM]. Sequence Note: The RefSeq transcript and protein were derived from genomic sequence to make the sequence consistent with the reference genome assembly. The genomic coordinates used for the transcript record were based on alignments. Here, we report a patient with a novel brachydactyly-syndactyly syndrome and a de novo translocation 46,XY,t(4;6)(q12;p23). We mapped the breakpoint and identified genes in the breakpoint region. One of the genes on chromosome 6, the membrane-associated O-acetyl transferase gene 1
