General description

Alkaline phosphatase, a metalloenzyme is a member of ectonucleotidases family. It is present in bile ducts, bone, intestine, placenta and tumors.

Application

Alkaline Phosphatase Blue Membrane Substrate Solution has been used:
  • to analyse direct alkaline phosphatase (AP) activity
  • to perform alkaline phosphatase assays with colorimetric system
  • to analyse direct alkaline phosphatase (AP) activity of the induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) line LND554SV.3

Prior to reaction with alkaline phosphatase, the BCIP® reagent is colorless to faint blue and the Nitro BT reagent is yellow. The two-component mixture develops a bluish-purple product with alkaline phosphatase in membrane-type assays. This substrate is not recommended for ELISA assays.

Physical form

A 2 component kit sufficient for preparing 400 mL of working substrate.
Supplied as a two-component buffered alkaline phosphatase substrate containing bromochloroindolyl phosphate (BCIP®) and Nitro Blue Tetrazolium (NBT/Thiazolyl Blue/Nitro BT)

Legal Information

BCIP is a registered trademark of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany
