General description

Goat polyclonal anti-Mouse IgG (whole molecule)−Alkaline Phosphatase antibody is reactive with mouse IgG1, IgG2a, IgG2b, IgG3, IgA, and IgM. Cross reactivity of the antibody conjugate is determined by ELISA. The conjugate shows no reactivity with rat IgG or rat serum proteins.
Immunoglobulins (Igs) belong to the immunoglobulin super-family. IgG is an abundant immunoglobulin present in human serum. The four classes of IgG are IgG1, IgG2, IgG3, and IgG4.
Mouse IgG is a plasma B cell derived antibody isotype defined by its heavy chain. IgG is the most abundant antibody isotype found in mouse serum. IgG crosses the placental barrier, is a complement activator and binds to the Fc-receptors on phagocytic cells. The level of IgG may vary with the status of disease or infection.

Application

Anti-Mouse IgG (whole molecule) Alkaline Phosphatase antibody produced in goat has been used as a secondary antibody in:
  • histological studies in heart and liver grafts
  • immunohistochemical studies of gangliosides and immunostaining of lymphoid organs
  • western blot detection in blood samples
Surfactant Protein A was detected in bronchoalveolar fluid using alkaline phosphatase conjugated goat anti-mouse IgG as the secondary at μg/ml in TBS/Tween containing final concentration of 0.5M NaCl.
The level of antibodies specific to P. aeuginosa present in immunized mouse sera was determined by ELISA using alkaline phosphatase-conjugated goat anti-mouse IgG as the secondary antibody at a dilution of 1:1000.

Biochem/physiol Actions

IgG1 deficiency results in hypogammaglobulinemia. IgG2 deficiency increases susceptibility to bacterial infections. IgG3 mediates effector functions and IgG4 is associated with asymptomatic infection.

Other Notes

Antibody adsorbed with rat serum proteins.

Physical form

Solution in 0.05 M Tris, pH 8.0, containing 10 mM glycine, 1% bovine serum albumin, 1 mM MgCl2, 50% glycerol and 15 mM sodium azide.

Preparation Note

Adsorbed to reduce background with rat samples.
