Application
Antalarmin hydrochloride has been used:
- to study its effect on stress-induced tryptophan hydroxylase 2 activity
- to study the anxiogenic effects of corticotropin-releasing factor 1 (CRF1) activation
- to analyze the therapeutic effect of blocking corticotrophin-releasing hormone (CRH) signaling in treating social stress-induced depression
Antalarmin hydrochloride is a non-peptide CRF1 corticotropin-releasing factor receptor antagonist.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Antalarmin hydrochloride is a non-peptide CRF1 corticotropin-releasing factor receptor antagonist.
Antalarmin serves as a non steroidal inhibitor of pregnancy even during the early stages. It is known to delay parturition. It also prevents the development of gastric ulcers which arises in response to stress.

This study aimed to test the hypothesis that high-anxiety (HR) rats are more sensitive to the effects of chronic corticosterone administration and antalarmin (corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) receptor 1, CRF1 antagonist) injections than low-anxiety (LR) rats, and this effect is accompanied

Molecular studies point to a role for the type 1 corticotropin-releasing factor receptor (CRF(1)) in anxiogenic-like and activating effects of CRF and stress. However, CP-154,526, a selective CRF(1) antagonist, has yielded mixed results in such tests. Few studies have examined
