Application
Apyrase is used to hydrolyze nucleoside triphosphates and diphosphates. Apyrase, from Sigma, has been used in inhibition studies of platelet-aggregation .
At least two isoenzymes are found in different varieties of S. tuberosum: one with a high ATPase/ADPase ratio (∼10) and another with a low ratio (∼1).
Reaction: ATP → ADP+Pi → AMP+2Pi.
Reaction: ATP → ADP+Pi → AMP+2Pi.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Apyrase is found in all eukaryotes and some prokaryotes. Apyrase, from potato, has a crucial role in regulating growth and development. Apyrase is involved in the inactivation of synaptic ATP as a neurotransmitter following nerve stimulation and in the inhibition of ADP induced platelet aggregation to prevent thrombosis . Divalent metal ions are required for activity and best activity is observed with calcium ion at 5 mM.
Packaging
Sold on the basis of ATPase units.
Other Notes
Mixture of high and low ratio isoenzymes.

Food deprivation can rescue obesity and overweight-induced mood disorders, and promote mood performance in normal subjects. Animal studies and clinical research have revealed the antidepressant-like effect of calorie restriction, but little is known about the mechanism of calorie restriction-induced mood

Isoprenoids represent the largest class of metabolites with amazing diversities in structure and function. They are involved in protecting plants against pathogens or herbivores or involved in attracting pollinators. Isoprenoids are derived from geranyl diphosphate (GPP; C10), farnesyl diphosphate (FPP;

Kinesin is a motor protein that converts chemical energy derived from ATP hydrolysis into mechanical work to transport cellular components along microtubules. We studied the properties of ATP-dependent microtubule-kinesin sliding with two different in vitro assay systems. In one assay

Rhamnogalacturonan I (RG-I) is a major plant cell wall pectic polysaccharide defined by its repeating disaccharide backbone structure of [4)-α-D-GalA-(1,2)-α-L-Rha-(1,]. A family of RG-I:Rhamnosyltransferases (RRT) has previously been identified, but synthesis of the RG-I backbone has not been demonstrated in

We have tried to specify a widespread hypothesis on the requirement of ATP for exocytosis (membrane fusion). With Paramecium tetraurelia cells, synchronously (approximately 1 s) exocytosing trichocysts, ATP pools have been measured in different strains, including wild type cells, "non-discharge"
