General description

An immunoglobulin has two heavy chains and two light chains connected by disulfide bond. It is a glycoprotein. IgG is a major class of immunoglobulin. It has two subclasses of IgG- IgG1 and IgG2.

Specificity

Rabbit anti-guinea pig IgG (whole molecule)-peroxidase antibody binds to guinea pig IgG.

Immunogen

guinea pig IgG

Application

Anti-Guinea Pig IgG (whole molecule) Peroxidase antibody produced in rabbit has been used in diphtheria serology enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and immunoblotting.

Biochem/physiol Actions

IgGs are glycoprotein antibodies that modulate several immune responses. Guinea pig IgGs against target proteins are often used as primary antibodies in various research applications. Thus, secondary anti-guinea pig IgGs conjugated to a detectable substrate are useful tools for the analysis of target proteins.
Immunoglobulin G (IgG) is the major class and most abundant immunoglobulin of immune system released by plasma cells. IgG mediate immune response with respect to the type of antigen and is found in blood or extracellular fluid. IgG defends against bacterial and viral infections. Maternal IgG crosses from mother to fetus through the placental barrier by pinocytosis to provide passive immunity for the neonate and protect against infections.
Immunoglobulin G (IgG) participates in hypersensitivity type II and type III. IgG1 helps in complement fixation through alternate pathway and IgG2 fixes complement by conventional mechanism. It mainly helps in immune defense. Guinea Pig is a highly preferred laboratory animal to study the local and anaphylactic reactions.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline pH 7.4, containing 0.05% MIT

Preparation Note

Prepared by the two-step glutaraldehyde method described by Avrameas, S., et al., Scand. J. Immunol., 8, Suppl. 7, 7 (1978).

Storage and Stability

Store at -20 °C for long term use. For continuous use, the product may be stored at 2-8 °C for up to one month. For extended storage, the solution may be frozen in working aliquots at -20 °C. Repeated freezing and thawing, or storage in "frost-free" freezers, is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use.

The prepartum output of PGF2alpha in the bitch is associated with increased placental PGE2-synthase (PTGES) mRNA levels. Contrasting with this is a decreased expression of PGF2alpha-synthase (PGFS/AKR1C3) in uteroplacental compartments during prepartum luteolysis, suggesting an involvement of alternative synthetic pathways
