Application

D-amino acid oxidase (DAO) is a potential target molecule for the treatment of chronic pain and schizophrenia . D-amino acid oxidase is used to oxidize D-amino acids to their corresponding imino acids.

Other Notes

One unit will oxidatively deaminate 1.0 μmole of D-alanine to pyruvate per minute at pH 8.3 at 25 °C, in the presence of a catalase.

A sensitive d-amino acid oxidase (DAAO)/peroxidase (POD) bienzyme biosensor is constructed, in which pentacyanoferrate-bound poly(1-vinylimidazole) polymer (PVI[Fe(CN)5]) is selected as a mediator. Reductive current of PVI[Fe(CN)5] related to the H2O2 concentration generated in the DAAO reaction was measured at -0.1V

D-amino acid oxidase (DAO) is a degradative enzyme that is stereospecific for D-amino acids, including D-serine and D-alanine, which are potential coagonists of the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor. Dysfunction of NMDA receptor-mediated neurotransmission has been implicated in the onset of various
