Application

Mannitol-1-P can be used to detect the transphosphorylation activity of D-mannitol-specific enzyme II expreβed in spheroplasts.

Biochem/physiol Actions

D-Mannitol 1-phosphate is an intermediate in the fructose and mannose metabolism. It takes part in the phosphoenolpyruvate-dependent PEP group translocation (phosphotransferase system or PTS), a major mechanism used by bacteria for carbohydrate uptake.
