Biochem/physiol Actions

Metabolite in valine, leucine and isoleucine biosynthesis and in glucosinolate biosynthesis. S-KMV is found in human plasma, the S-KMV:R-KMV ratio is used for diagnosis of diabetes mellitus and maple syrup urine disease.
