General description

Abberior STAR 600 was developed for STED and confocal microscopy in the orange spectral region. Abberior STAR 600 is highly photostable and bright orange fluorescent dye. The dye works extremely well with Abberior Instruments STEDYCON and Expert Line microscopes and Leica STED microscopes. It can be effectively excited with excitation light between 550 - 610 nm. Abberior STAR 600 can substitute dyes like Atto 590, Atto 594 or Alexa Fluor 594. For STED microscopy, Abberior STAR 600 can be most efficiently used with a STED Laser wavelength between 750 - 800 nm. Abberior STAR 600 performs exceptionally well in combination with Abberior STAR 635P, STAR 635 or STAR RED. Best results are obtained with freshly prepared samples.

For about a decade, superresolution fluorescence microscopy has been advancing steadily, maturing from the proof-of-principle stage to routine application. Of the various techniques, STED (stimulated emission depletion) microscopy was the first to break the diffraction barrier. Today, it is a
