General description

Sodium octanesulfonate, or 1-Octanesulfonic acid sodium salt, is an anionic surfactant commonly used for HPLC analysis of peptides and proteins. It is hydrophilic in nature, with a hydrocarbon chain, sulphonic acid group, and the ability to allow ion exchange phenomenon due to the presence of sodium ions.

Application

1-Octanesulfonic acid sodium salt is for research use to
  • separate carboxylic acids using ion-exclusion chromatography (SEC) in the mobile phase for High-Performance Liquid Chromotography (HPLC) to separate organic molecules
  • in preparation of water-soluble pillar[5]arenes
  • develop graphene oxide-based composite (GOBC) for decontaminate of wastewater

Biochem/physiol Actions

1-Octanesulfonic acid sodium salt is hydrophilic in nature and has the ability to allow the ion exchange phenomenon due to the presence of sodium ions. For the formation of GOBC, it intercalates GO to form a nanoporous graphene that has a high adsorption capacity

Features and Benefits

  • Redi-Dri makes using hygroscopic chemicals safer and easier to use, dispense, and weigh out powders that commonly clump
  • Eliminates clumping by maintaining product moisture and quality attributes.
  • No caking makes it safer to use with no need to manually break up clumps with tools
  • Less waste - hydroscopic chemicals that normally clump and often are discarded
