Application

β-Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide hydrate has been used:
  • to prepare NAD+ standard solution for a study on NAD+ metabolomics[1]
  • as a component of MurI assay reaction partial mixture for glutamate racemase reaction[2]
  • as a component of a chromogenic staining solution to stain zebrafish embryos[3]

Biochem/physiol Actions

β-Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (β-NAD) is a cofactor of alcohol dehydrogenase and acts as an inhibitory neurotransmitter in visceral smooth muscles.[4] The NAD/NADH ratio has a role in the regulation of intracellular redox potential. It thereby influences metabolic reactions in vivo.[5]
